  • What You Need To Know If You Are Participating In The 2014 Open

    1. It lasts 5 weeks, you will need to complete 5 workouts over 5 weeks.  The workouts will be released on Thursday at 5pm each week (Starting Feb. 27th) and must be completed by Monday at 5pm each week.

    2. You will be responsible for submitting your own score online.  Once you have submitted your score it will be validated and added to the leaderboard.  Each score will be due by 5PM ON MONDAY.  If you do not submit your score on time it will not be validated and you will not have a score for that weeks workout. There are no exceptions for this.

    3. Each Saturday we will run the Open Workout at the gym starting at 12:30.  Please show up at noon to start warming up as we will start running heats at 12:30.  Please do your best to be there each Saturday.  We will be able to schedule make up days and times as needed, but with 40+ people participating we want to get as many people as possible there on Saturday.

    4. If you can not make the Saturday workout (out of town, work, etc.) you can email kirsten@crossfitdavis.com to schedule a different time.  Please understand that there will be limited times available for make up workouts if you can not make it on Saturday.

    5.  ALL workouts not being done on Saturday MUST be cleared by Kirsten.  We are going to be just as strict this year with judging as we were last year.  I will not validate a score for a workout that is done outside of the Saturday group that has not been cleared before hand.

    6.  Last but not least, HAVE FUN!! While the Open can be stressful at times and we all worry about what might be coming next, it is meant to be a time to have fun and celebrate all the work you have all done in the past year.  It is a time to challenge and surprise yourself and a time to cheer each other on and appreciate the amazing community we have here at CrossFit Davis.

    We are so looking forward to another Open with you all! 2014 here we come!

     

  • SacTown Throwdown Tryout Workouts

    Here are your tryout events for the SacTown Throwdown! Tryouts are this Saturday at 11AM.  There are 4 events total.  

    Workout 1: 

    AMRAP in 10 Minutes

    15 Burpee Box Jump Overs 24/20″
    30 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches 45/30lbs
    15 Burpee Box Jump Overs 24/20″
    20 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches  55/40lbs
    15 Burpee Box Jump Overs 24/20″
    10 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches 75/50lbs
    Max Reps of Muscle Ups *

    * Your score will be the amount of reps you complete. The time you complete the Burpee Box Jump/Snatch ladder will be used as a tiebreaker. 

    E.g. 

    Athlete A finishes the ladder and gets 1 Muscle Up
    Athlete B gets 100 reps and runs out of time.
    Athlete C finishes the ladder in 8:30 and gets 0 Muscle Ups
    Athlete D finishes the ladder in 8:00 and gets 0 Muscle Ups

     Rankings would be as follows 

    1: A
    2: D
    3: C
    4: B

    Workout 2: 

    Part A: 1 Minute of Handstand Push-Ups

    30 Seconds Rest

    Part B: 2 Minutes Clean and Jerk 135/95lbs

    90 Seconds Rest

    Part C: 

    12 Minutes to perform the following

    50 Double Unders

    then

    AMRAP of 

    15 Wall Ball Shots 20/14lbs to 10’/9′ target
    12 Deadlift 155/105lbs
    9 Toe-To-Bar

    Workout 1 and 2C are each worth 1/3 of your total score.

    Workouts 2A and B will be 1/6 each and then combined to make up the remaining 1/3

  • CFD Holiday Party!

    CFD HOLIDAY PARTY THIS SATURDAY!!!! December 7th 3-5pm at The Davis Graduate!! Stop by for some drinks and food with us! We would love to see all of you to celebrate an amazing year at CFD!!

  • Everything You Need To Know About The Open

    Over the next 5 weeks each Open workout will be released on Wednesday at 5 pm  on the CrossFit Games website: games.crossfit.com

    You will have from 5 pm Wednesday until 5 pm Sunday of each week to complete the workout and submit your score.

    You must submit your score online BEFORE the Sunday 5 pm deadline in order for your score to be validated. Late scores can not be submitted under any circumstance so please do not be late with entering your score!

    You can do the workouts as many times as you would like between Wednesday and Sunday. Make sure that you re-enter your score if you improve!

    Workouts will be held each Saturday afternoon. Show up at noon to warm up and get your name in a heat. Heats will start at 12:30.

    You MUST complete the workouts in the gym and have a judge to count and judge reps for you any time you attempt a workout in order for your score to count and be validated by CrossFit Davis. We will go over the standards before each workout and we will each help judge and count for each other.

    Make ups for people who can’t make it on Saturdays will be held on Sunday morning at 9:30 or at other times during the week if needed. If you can not make the Saturday or Sunday times please email kirsten@crossfitdavis.com to set up a time to complete the workout.

    Workouts CAN NOT be scaled. All workouts must be completed exactly as written.  This is much different than our normal workouts at the gym.  If something comes up that you can not do (double unders, chest to bar pull ups, a barbell movement that is too heavy for you) you will just complete whatever part of the workout that you are able to. An example of this would be if a workout was an AMRAP of snatches and double unders and you can’t do double unders, you would complete the snatches and then spend the rest of the time completing as many double unders as you can.  Even if you only got 1 or even 0 you can not switch to singles.

    This may sound like it could end up being frustrating in some cases, but here’s the deal, this is a super cool opportunity for you to push yourself beyond what you would do in a normal workout and to try things that you might not otherwise attempt.  If a workout comes up that is all your least favorite movements bundled into one horrible AMRAP, don’t worry about it! Another workout will be coming and you never know what will come up next!  

    If this is your first time participating in the Opens, enjoy the experience! It is such a cool thing to be a part of and at CFD even on our worst days, we are always there to cheer each other on!  

    On the last Saturday of the Opens we will have a big BBQ/party after the workout to celebrate what I know is going to be an incredible experience!
